The Halo Effect was founded in 2019 by Niclas Engelin after his departure from In Flames.

Engelin immediately got down to business by bringing former In Flames members Peter Iwers, Daniel Svensson and Jesper Strömblad on board.

The crowning glory is Dark Tranquillity singer Mikael Stanne. March of the Unheart is the second album from The Halo Effect, which follows on directly from its predecessor Days of the Lost in terms of musical class.
