Opeth is a Swedish progressive metal band from Stockholm that incorporates elements of death metal, progressive rock, classical, folk and blues. Earlier albums such as Orchid, Morningrise, My Arms Your Hearse and Still Life and Blackwater Park contain more death metal elements with the band evolving into a more 70s progressive rock-influenced sound on later albums Heritage, Pale Communion, Sorceress and In Clauda Venenum. Opeth's musical influences have been cited as progressive rock bands like King Crimson, Yes, Genesis, Camel, P.F.M., Hawkwind and by heavy metal bands such as Iron Maiden, Slayer, Death, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Celtic Frost, King Diamond, Morbid Angel, Voivod, and Judas Priest.
