Hell Is Empty, and All the Devils Are Here is the fourth album by British extreme metal band Anaal Nathrakh.
Extremity has been Anaal Nathrakh's stock in trade for more than two decades. Napalm Death's Shane Embury, an ally of the core duo for several years at this point, plays bass on a few tracks, but the primary instrumental contributions are by Mick Kenny, while Dave Hunt performs the vocals, assisted here and there by guests (Circle of Dead Children's Joe Horvath and Exploder's Dirty Von Donovan). This is a more precise, death metal and grindcore-inspired version of Anaal Nathrakh.
The album title is a quote from the first act of William Shakespeare's The Tempest.
The name "Anaal Nathrakh" is taken from "anál nathrach", which means "serpent's breath" in the Irish language. The phrase was taken from Merlin's Charm of Making in the 1981 film Excalibur. In the movie, the phrase is pronounced [ˈɛənæl ˈnæθræk] ("ANN- all [as in "shall"] NATH-rak").
